Première course au Québec !

Comme à chaque année, la saison cycliste québécoise a été lancée lors du grand prix de la mairie de Contrecoeur. 8 tours d’environ 13km étaient au menu pour un total de 107km. L’équipe Norco/Premier Tech était bien représentée avec une délégation de 10 coureurs.
La température était relativement clémente cette année avec la présence du soleil et le mercure aux environs d’une dizaine de degrés Celsius. Petit détail, la présence d’un bon vent qui a occasionné des bordures au sein du peloton tout au long de la course.
Belle performance d’ensemble pour l’équipe, qui a vu chacun de ses coureurs participer activement à la course. Samuel Blanchette a été le premier coureur à se distinguer alors qu’il s’est joint à l’échappée de début de course.
Au final, c’est Étienne Samson qui a obtenu le meilleur résultat de l’équipe avec une 6e position, lui qui avait réussi à rejoindre seul l’échappée victorieuse dans le dernier tour. Joël Desgreniers a réussi à joindre un groupe de poursuivants en fin de course pour obtenir la 20e place.
Sébastien Rousseau a terminé la course intercalé entre les poursuivants et le peloton. Samuel Blanchette, Louis-Charles Lacroix et Maxime Le Pluart ont fini au sein du peloton fortement décimé. Adam Andersen et Logan Cornel ont été très actifs tout au long de la course pour ensuite payer leurs efforts lorsque le peloton a explosé. Alexandre Aubiès, de l’équipe des maîtres, et David Fugère ont été victimes du rythme très élevé et n’ont pas terminé la course.
Le prochain rendez-vous de la saison québécoise est le critérium de Beauharnois la fin de semaine prochaine. Le lendemain aura lieu le traditionnel grand prix IGA de Ste-Martine.

As the season already started down south we started the Quebec cycling season in Contrecoeur riding eight time a 13 km circuit race for a total of 107 km. With a group of 10 riders, Norco/Premier Tech had a great presence in the peloton.
Weather was pretty good for the time of year. Sun was shining and the temperature was averaging 10 degrees. The main difficulty of this almost flat circuit was the strong cross wind creating hard bordure for the major part of the circuit.
The whole team did well with a strong presence in every breakaway attempt. Samuel Blanchette was the first to go at the end of the first lap. Logan Cornel, Maxime Le Pluart, Adam Andersen and Louis-Charles Lacroix were doing a great job in front of the pack protecting Samuel. It stood for a while until it was caught by the pack. It was then Adam’s turn to go away trying to bridge for a while on the two riders up front. A little bit less then a lap later Sebastien Rousseau along with 3 other riders caught Adam. The five man group stood chasing for few laps. The break got caught it was then Etienne’s turn to escaped in a group of ten that stood until the finish.
Etienne Samson had the best result for Norco with a 7th place. Joel Desgreniers got the second result of the team finishing 16th. Sebastien finished inbetween the chase and the peloton. Samuel, Louis-Charles and Maxime finished within the exploded pack. Adam and Logan paid for the efforts made during the race and finished a bit behind. Alexandre Aubiès, master team rider, and David Fugère suffered from the peloton speed and couldn’t finish the race.
Next race will be in Beauharnois for a criterium happening next saturday. The very next day will be the well known IGA Ste-Martine Grand Prix.
